Frosty Mountain Wellness: Fancy Fungi

If you have been in the Shoppe lately you may have noticed a new product from Frosty Mountain Wellness - medicinal mushroom capsules! If you don't know about the importance of fungi for your body I am here to give a few helpful explanations about what we are providing for you in the store.

First off, we have Chaga. Chaga is actually a fungus that grows on birch trees in the colder climates of the world (i.e. Canada, Siberia, Poland, etc.) It is affectionately known as the 'King' of the medicinal mushrooms because of its effectiveness on your wellbeing and the homeostasis of your body. It has been known to balance the immune system, reduce inflammation and can also have anti-tumour properties. In fact, in tincture form, it has been used in Russia as a cancer therapy for decades.

If taken regularly it works as foundational medicine, in that it provides a baseline level of good health; but can also be taken potently when dealing with more serious disease.

Benefits of Chaga:

  • Anti-inflammatory

  • High in antioxidants

  • Immune balancing

  • Anti-viral

  • Anti-tumour

  • Soothes digestion

  • Stabilizes blood sugar

  • Soothes skin

Next up, we have Reishi. Reishi is known as the Queen of the mushrooms, and is one of the most prized mushrooms in traditional Chinese medicine, and has been used for more than 2000 years. It is also known as the Mushroom of Immortality, as it is widely known as the most powerful mushroom for longevity. Like Chaga, Reishi also has a very high level of antioxidants, and because it is used for lowering stress and helping the immune system, it is a good mushroom to take at night.

Reishi is a medicinal mushroom powerhouse and if you only consume one mushroom everyday Reishi should be it!

Benefits of Reishi:

  • Lowers stress and calms nervous system

  • Improves sleep quality

  • Helps with seasonal allergies

  • Balances the immune system

  • Promotes longevity

  • Regulates blood sugar

  • Promotes healthy liver function

  • Can inhibit tumour growth

Third, we have Cordyceps. Cordyceps are best known for their energy increase and adrenal support. They provide an energy boost without the crash and jitters you can get from too much caffeine, which is always a good thing in my books! They can also help restore energy that is depleted from stress and, just like most of the other mushrooms, cordyceps also possess anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and immune-modulating properties.

Benefits of Cordyceps:

  • Enhances energy and reduces fatigue

  • Improves endurance, stamina and athletic performance

  • Elevates sex drive

  • Helps the body better cope with stress

  • Boosts mood

  • Provides high levels of antioxidants

Last, but definitely not least, is Lion's Mane. If you have been looking for something to help you to focus and concentrate - Lion's Mane is the mushroom for you. There are also some very interesting neuroregenerative properties that have been discovered - which means there is promising evidence that it can be used to repair the myelin sheath that surrounds damaged nerves. That would mean it could be helpful for conditions of the brain such as Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's and neuropathy.

Benefits of Lion's Mane:

  • Improved memory

  • Enhanced clarity, creativity & focus

  • Neuro-protective properties

  • Repairing of nerve damage or relief of nerve pain/neuropathy

  • Improved cognitive function & brain health

  • Improved mood

That covers the basics of the mushroom capsules we have available in the Shoppe, but if you have further questions be sure to send us an email or fill out your info on the Contact page!
